What goes more perfectly with camping and outdoor adventure than hunting? There are lots of people who carry down the hunting tradition from generation to generation or even just find it to be a relaxing activity to enjoy with friends. Whatever your reason to hunt is, there’s no denying that an RV can make the experience a lot more comfortable and hassle-free. Make sure your rig is prepped for hunting by following the tips we here at Howard RV Center have outlined below.
Packing
The best hunting trips start with the right gear. Think about where you’ll be going and what you’ll be hunting. Pack your choice weapons and make sure they’re in a spot where they won’t become a danger to others but will also be protected while you’re moving around.
You’ll also want to pack for the weather. Sturdy hiking boots are generally a good idea as hunting grounds can take you all over different types of terrain, but if you’re going somewhere where you can expect it to be warm, then lighter clothes are probably going to be the best choice for you. We still recommend long sleeves and long pants, but they don’t need to be made of heavy material. Then again, if it’s going to be pretty cold, then you’ll want layers and lots of them.
Throw in anything else that might be helpful during your trips. Reflective gear is often highly recommended, if not required. You’ll also want all the supplies you’ll need for dressing game and any powersport vehicles that might help you with traveling.
Type of Camper
Speaking of powersports vehicles, if you’re in the market for a new RV, then make sure you’re getting one that helps you make the most of your hunting trips. For example, if you use powersport vehicles, then a toy hauler might be a great option as it gives you a place to store your vehicle when you’re not using it or when you’re in transit. You can also check out some travel trailers or fifth wheels for more spacious living quarters, or a pop-up camper for just the basics. Think about more than what you’ll need for sleeping and general living, since you might do a lot of your pre- and post-hunting work in your RV.
Advantages
So why bother with the RV in the first place? The biggest advantage is that you can turn hunting day-trips into weekend trips or week-long trips. You can stay in one spot for a longer period of time and still have a comfortable place to sleep every night. After a while, tent camping can become uncomfortable and staying in a hotel can sometimes take you far from the ideal hunting grounds. Plus, this way, you won’t have to stay close to home and can explore other parts of the country while still having the means of transporting all your supplies.
There are lots of other great reasons to use an RV for hunting, and maybe there are some concerns that we didn’t touch on.
